HONOR VS. DISHONOR
Fathers and Mothers have been positioned by God to have a powerful influence on their families. When you teach your children the importance of honor, you give them a head start for their future.
The word HONOR means something that is heavy, weighty and also valuable, gold, something you give top priority.
DISHONOR means something light or misty, steam, not valuable, unimportant, something that can be wiped off, with no thought.
It is so vitally important that in honoring your mate, you honor their opinions, you honor their input, be it right or wrong or indifferent - value their opinion! Then in honoring them, turn around and honor your children.
If I give honor, I will receive honor
Honoring one another will produce very healthy relationships.
Honor will overcome all kinds of things because of the respect you'll have for one another.
If I want to change something then I'll have to be the first one to do the honoring. God will honor the one who honors others.
IF I WANT CHANGE THEN I NEED TO BE THE ONE TO SOW CHANGE!
Honor is what fuels healthy civilization. How do we raise honorable children in a culture that does not value honor? By modelling honor by the way we live. Our children will learn valuable lessons by watching us and that will enable them to become men and women of honor themselves.
Most Important: Honor God! Deuteronomy 6: 6-9 NIV - "Write these commandments that I've given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates.
When husbands and wives honor one another they bring honor to God. Romans 12:10 - honoring and preferring one another.
Being honorable and having the ability to give honor is one of the most important character traits we could have in becoming an effective person.
