Today, there are many strong voices echoing through the air waves that are bombarding the minds and hearts of the body of Christ. Words like, "Live for the moment. Don't think about later on. YOU can trust your feelings. YOU can have whatever YOU want now! YOU don't have to wait. YOU don't have to come under authority. YOU are in charge of your own life! YOU don't have to commit to anything, and on and on it goes.
This is a sure recipe for failure!
Taking the road of least resistance is never the best route to take.
Do you remember the story of Jesus in Matthew chapter 4, where He was being led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil? Fasting 40 days, Jesus was hungry. The tempter came to Him and said, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread." But Jesus answered, "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." Next question the devil asked Jesus, "If You are the Son of God, throw yourself down. For it is written: He shall give His angels charge over you, and in their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone. Jesus said to him, "It is written again, You shall not tempt the Lord your God." Last kick at the cat, the devil said to Jesus, "All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me." Then Jesus said to him, away with you, Satan! For it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve. Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.
The enemies strategies have not changed since the beginning of time. He is still doing his best to convince you and I to go his way and yield to his lies and schemes. He is subtle, and little by little he chips away at our thinking until he can convince us to believe him. That is why it is so so important for us to know the Word of God and have a relationship with JESUS CHRIST. When we know how God thinks, it is easy to discern the lie and replace it with God's truth and say, "IT IS WRITTEN.... and the enemy will have to flee.
James 4:7 - Therefore submit to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Making soft choices and little surrenders daily may seem totally harmless at the time, however over a period of time they become a habit that will form a stronghold in our mind and hinder our progress in the Kingdom of God.
The Bible says, "Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding."
