Over the past many years I have noticed a familiar pattern running through those who have come to me for counsel and support. Many of them had seen victories in their past and were asking, "Why am I not walking in the same victories I used to walk in? Life has a way of taking us off course from our main focus. We get busier and stop paying attention to what is important and to that which was sustaining us in our walk with the Lord.
Are you asking:
Why isn't God speaking to me anymore?
Why does He favor her/him over me?
Why don't people ask me to do things? ME, ME, ME!
Maybe we have become more self-focused than God focused, which in turn causes us to be dull of hearing.
Sin is like this: Unknown to us it was already headed our way, sweeping in low beneath our radar, ready to launch a sneak attack and catch us unawares, one small compromise, then another.
Don't ignore the warning signs
The first step off the path of safety is effortless and will seem completely insignificant and harmless.
The next, more deliberate that in time will lead you to disastrous decisions to believe the father of lies himself.
You will hear, "It's no big deal", his voice inside your head, "you haven't really stepped off the path", this is only a temporary detour, enjoy the moment without consequences...
Regression, is subtle:
We stop faithfully coming to the church services.
We stop paying attention to the Word of God.
We stop operating in the Gifts of the Spirit.
We stop praying in general and stop praying in the Spirit.
Hebrews 12:1-2 "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith....."
We will need to plan on purpose and be determined to stay connected to the Lord and the body of Christ if we want to walk in His ways, having His results!
