Before anything can happen in our life, we must be willing to get up and start. We've got to quit planning and thinking and wishing, and jump headlong into doing. We say we have good intentions. How many of our dreams are often buried by good intentions: "I was going to..." "I almost..." "I intended to..."
Courage is the bridge between good ideas and action.
How often do we say that we believe Christ can do what he says he can do in us, but we don't have the courage to get in the car and let Him take the wheel. Carrie Underwood sings, "Jesus take the wheel, take it from my hands, cause I can't do this on my own, I'm letting go"..... and this is exactly what God is desiring for us to do. We must realize that risk is at the very core of the Christian life. We are not called to be safe from all life's troubles, simply secure in the knowledge that we're "connected to" the living Christ. The only thing about life that is permanent is change. If we stay on the ledge, forever expecting the next handhold to be easy and guaranteed, we'll never go anywhere. I believe that if God speaks to us anywhere, he speaks to us in our everyday lives, in an ordinary setting. The necessary move is called a step, or a leap of faith for a very good reason. As we step out, God will reveal himself more with every step along the way, because it's much easier to steer a moving vehicle than one that is parked. We all must continually struggle to overcome our doubts and fears. At some point in our lives all of us have had obstacles to overcome, and have gone on to accomplish seemingly impossible things. Have you ever thought what your life would be like if you had never taken a risk? You probably would have never learned to walk, never moved away from home, never made a friend, and never really gone anywhere or done anything the least bit memorable. The truth is, we cannot grow without taking risks, without loosening our grip on the known and the certain, and taking a chance in reaching for a little bit more of life. Let's not wait for all our problems to get solved or for all our obstacles to be removed before we do something. If we do we'll be waiting forever. It's okay to struggle with our thoughts, because if we stop struggling, we stop living. The Bible says: "Without a vision, people perish". Our visions come from what God has in mind for us. He doesn't see us with all the self-imposed limitations we've put on ourselves. He sees us packed with potential and an incredible ability to change and grow, in every area of our lives.
Let's not be one of God's frozen chosen that thinks far too long on a thing - so much so, we never act on it.
Philippians 2:13 says that God is at work within you,
giving you the will and the power to achieve His purpose.
